US President Donald Trump has released a strict warning to recent Chinese steps to store export checks on elements of rare soils and other critical materials and described the action as “hostile” and unprecedented.
Publication on the Social Truth, Trump wrote“Some very strange things are happening in China! They become very hostile and send letters to countries around the world that they want to impose export control on any element of production that is to do with rare countries, and practically anything else they can think of even if it’s not made in China.”
A potential global impact
Trump claimed that the Chinese step could “clog” global markets and make it difficult to live almost every country: “No one has ever seen anything like that, but basically it would” clog “the markets and make the life of virtually every country in the world, especially for China.”
He added that the US and other nations expressed anger at what he described as “the great business hostility that came out of nowhere”.
Trump emphasizes us monopoly on elements
The US President stressed that the US also holds strong positions in critical elements, but has not yet used them: “We also have monopoly positions, much stronger and far -sided than Chinese.
Trump also described detailed letters of China, which indicates elements they planned to detain as “many long and details, with great specificity, every element they want to detain from other nations.”
The timing raises questions
Trump questioned the timing of Chinese actions and noted that this was coincided with the progress in the Middle East: “Chinese letters were particularly inappropriate in that it was a day when after three thousand years of Bedam and fighting in the Middle East. I wonder if this timing was accidental?”
Trump to cancel the planned meeting of XI in APEC
Trump said he had not spoken to Chinese President Xi Jinping after a recent Chinese announcement of export checks on rare countries and other critical materials.
Trump described this step “real surprise, not only for me, but for all leaders of the free world”. He noted that the planned meeting with XI at the upcoming APEC summit in South Korea, scheduled for two weeks, was unnecessary due to unexpected development.
Maybe the US answer
The President said that the US may respond financially and through tariffs: “It depends on what China says about the enemy” command “they have just issued, as president of the United States, I will be forced to financially face my step. We have two for each element she has monopolized. ”
He added: “One of the policies we count at the moment is a huge increase in tariffs to Chinese products coming to the United States. There are many other countermeasures that are also seriously considered.”
Trump closed his contribution with assurance: “Finally, although potentially painful, it will eventually be a very good thing for the US”
