US President Donald Trump has reignited the birthright debate by sharing a video of conservative author and radio host Michael Savage. Savage claimed in the video that immigrants are abusing US law by entering the country during the “ninth month of pregnancy” to secure their child’s citizenship. In the same context, Savage also bashed the Chinese and Indian communities in the US and “some other hellhole on a plane”
The footage, which originally aired on the Newsmax series The Savage Nation, was highlighted by the account “Donald J. Trump Posts From Truth Social,” a platform dedicated to reposting the president’s social media activity.
In the footage, Savage claimed that such practices create a loophole where “a baby becomes an instant citizen here and then they bring the whole family over from China or India or some other hellhole on the planet.”
In the clip, Savage expressed his deep frustration with the trial, stating, “Today’s short, abbreviated discussion will be about the arguments I just heard before the Supreme Court on birthright citizenship. Listening to the arguments made me somewhat angry because all I heard was that it’s legal to be bandaged back and forth.”
Savage focused his criticism on the legal representation involved, noting that “the person making the case for flooding America with illegal aliens to change the demographics forever was a Chinese American who strikes me as a classic ACLU lawyer. Very smart, very evil and very devious.”
He then attacked the American Civil Liberties Union, declaring, “The ACLU is the head of the snake. They’ve been around forever and they’re out there again trying to turn America into a cesspool.”
Savage argued that the issue went beyond technicalities, arguing that “these arguments shouldn’t be made in the abstract in a courtroom. This really isn’t about law. It’s about public opinion.”
He added, “I could start arguing about the Constitution itself and I’ll hit a stone wall with you. We can’t amend the Constitution because it’s written in stone, and if we do, they’ll take away the First and Second Amendments, which they would.”
The author went on to note what he sees as the obsolescence of current legal interpretations, pointing out that “the Constitution was written before air travel, needless to say, before television, before the Internet, before radio.”
Savage also claimed that “English is no longer spoken here” and claimed a lack of loyalty among modern immigrants.
Contrasting the past, he noted, “No, they’re not like today’s European Americans and their ancestors. The Irish integrated, the Italians integrated, the Poles integrated, the Lithuanians, the Romanians, the Russians. They all integrated and became Americans in the melting pot.”
Savage stated that the traditional concept of assimilation had failed, noting, “The melting pot idea is long gone. Now it’s just cash. We’ve gone from the melting pot to the chamber.”
