
US President Donald Trump on Wednesday (September 10) questioned the violation of the Polish airspace with Russian drones, after Warsaw confirmed that it had shot down several that crossed its border overnight.
“What is violating the Polish airy space with drones with Russia? We’re going here!” Trump wrote on a social truth, weighing shortly after the Polish authorities described the incident as an “aggressive act”.
Poland said its airy space was broken 19 times during a massive Russian strike in neighboring Ukraine, with at least three drones captured by Polish fighter nozzles.
Poland: “unprecedented violation” of air space
“As a result of the attack of the Russian Federation on the Ukrainian territory, the objects of drones were unprecedented,” the army said on X. “This is an act of aggression that pose a real threat to the safety of our citizens.”
Officials confirmed that at least three drones were shot down and the search teams were sent to locate the crashes.
TUSK: “We were closest to conflict from World War II”
Said Prime Minister Donald Tusk He made a meeting with an emergency cabinet and informed NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
“This is the closest that we have been open to conflict since World War II,” Tusk told Parliament. He added, “I have no reason to believe we are on the brink of war.”
The authorities temporarily closed the air space above the parts of Poland, including the main international airport in Warsaw. The Federal Administration of the US Aviation Administration said the operations were influenced by “unplanned military activity related to the provision of State Security”.
NATO Jets Scramble, Allies condemn Russia
The Polish F-16s, the Dutch F-35S, the Italian AWACS tracking planes and NATO air aircraft were mobilized during the operation overnight.
The leaders from France, Britain, Germany and Canada condemned the entry “strongly”. EU Foreign Policy chief Kaja Kallas SaiD: “Early indications suggest that violations of the Polish airspace were intentional, not random … The Russian war increases, does not end. We must increase the cost of Moscow.”
Sikorski: “It’s not a random event”
Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski dismissed Moscow and said, “We have no doubt that it was not a random event. We are dealing with an unprecedented case of attack not only in Polish territory, but also in NATO and the EU.”
Sikorski contrasted with the last incident with earlier isolated disturbances: “When it does one or two drones, it is possible that it was a technical disorder. In this case, however, there were 19 violations and simply resisted the imagination that it could be accidental.”
Russia denies, accuses Ukraine
Moscow refused responsibility and claimed that its drones were focusing on military facilities in Western Ukraine. Its Defense Ministry insisted that “in Poland did not plan to intervene any goals”.
The Russian embassy in Warsaw said AFP that “Poland did not provide evidence of Russian objects”.
Ukraine: “Extremely dangerous precedent for Europe”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr said Zelena that Russia had released 415 drones and 40 missiles overnight, with at least eight Iranian drones directed to Poland.
“The precedent is extremely dangerous for Europe,” he warned green. “A strong reaction is needed – and it can only be a common reaction to all partners: Ukraine, Poland, all Europeans, the United States.”
