US President Donald Trump said he plans to include a Times Siena poll in his ongoing lawsuit against The New York Times, accusing the publication of creating “fake” and “fraudulent” polls aimed at damaging him politically.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the poll was intentionally negative and biased toward Democrats, especially ahead of the 2024 US presidential election.
“The Times Siena poll, which is always overwhelmingly negative for me … will be added to my lawsuit against The Failing New York Times,” Trump wrote.
He said his legal team demanded that the newspaper preserve all records related to how the poll results were calculated.
“Our lawyers demanded that they keep all the records and how they ‘calculated’ these false results,” he added.
Allegations of political bias and “false results”
Trump claimed that the poll was not only inaccurate but also deliberately skewed.
“Not just the fact that it was heavily skewed toward the Democrats,” he wrote, accusing the paper of spreading “the lies and misdeeds of the radical left.”
The president has repeatedly criticized the mainstream media and polling organizations, especially those that have shown him trailing in pre-election polls.
Calls for action against ‘fraudulent survey’
In a subsequent Truth Social post, Trump went further, arguing that inaccurate polls should have legal consequences.
“False and fraudulent survey should be practically a crime,” he wrote.
He accused major US media organizations of knowingly publishing incorrect polls during the 2020 election cycle in an attempt to influence voters.
“They knew what they were doing, they were trying to sway the election,” Trump said.
Trump repeats claims of winning the election
Trump reiterated his long-standing claims of sweeping electoral victories, saying he won the 2020 election by a landslide, despite official results showing otherwise.
“I won in the runoff, including winning the popular vote, all 7 of the 7 Swing states,” he wrote, adding that the Electoral College result was “the way to go.”
He also claimed victory in thousands of US counties, comparing those claims to what he described as misleading media coverage.
Media organizations have chosen
Trump has named several major news outlets and television stations, accusing them of consistently publishing erroneous polling data.
“If people researched The Failing New York Times, ABC Fake News, NBC Fake News, CBS Fake News, Low Ratings CNN, or the now defunct MSDNC, all the surveys were fraudulent,” he said.
He added that even polls from Fox News and The Wall Street Journal have been “terrible” over the years.
Criticism of American Journalism
Trump concluded his remarks by lamenting what he described as the decline of American journalism and vowing to challenge election practices.
“It is not sad what has happened to American journalism,” he wrote, adding that he would do “everything possible to prevent this poll fraud from moving forward.”
