US President Donald Trump has come down hard on one of his former supporters, Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has now announced on Friday (local time) that she has decided to drop out of the US Congress race because he said he would not support her and the person she was going to support would “kill” her in the race.
“What the hell happened to Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Greene?” Trump asked
“I can’t believe people can change so much. You can’t change from a strong conservative to a cold liberal if you don’t lie,” the US president also said.
Trump made the comments in North Carolina, where he was trying to convince citizens of the embattled state that he has control of the US economy long before the crucial 2026 election.
Taylor Greene recently criticized Trump after mocking the late filmmaker Rob Reiner, saying in a post on X: “This is a family tragedy, not about politics or political enemies.
In recent months, Greene has angered the US president with her views, most prominently her vocal push to release the Jeffrey Epstein files.
After her push, Trump called her a “traitor” and said he would support the “right person” to run against her in the 2026 election.
Announcing that her last day in the US House will be January 5, 2026, Greene said in a social media post, “I have too much self-respect and dignity, I love my family too much, and I don’t want my sweet district to have to endure a hurtful and hateful primary against me from a president we all fought for, just to fight and win my election while the Republicans probably lost.
