The United States President Donald Trump said on Wednesday, July 16, that the American was close to completing the business agreement with India. He said that a business agreement with India saying that the US would provide access to Indian markets will soon be completed.
“We have to announce quite good offers,” he said. “The big one will really be on 150 countries that we really do not act with, and they are smaller – with which we trade too much. We have another agreement that comes with India,” said Donald Trump.
Trump said that the proposed agreement could provide US companies with greater access to the Indian market in accordance with the trade agreement between the US and Indonesia. The US President, who mentioned India, said his administration would announce several other commercial agreements.
Donald Trump claimed that Indonesia gives America access to the country under their business agreement. Trump said the business agreement with India was “along the same lines”.
He said, “This is probably the largest part of the agreement … India basically works on the same line. We will have access to India.”
Washington has already sent letters to several countries that share the details of mutual rates that would come into force on August 1. New Delhi hopes to be able to make an agreement with the US to avoid mutual tariffs.
However, before it can be concluded, India has indicated that the country will not rush in a hurry and will negotiate according to its own conditions.
“India is discussing its own conditions and we will never make a timeline -based trade agreement; when the agreement is good, fully mature and in the national interest, then we accept it,” said trade union minister Piyush Goyal.
“It should be a mutually advantageous agreement and only if the interests of India are protected, the national interest will always be the highest, and it has in mind that if a good trade is formed, India is always ready to participate in developed countries.”
