President Donald Trump said he was discussing with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the “various plans” to ensure the release of the hostages that are still held in Gaza because it seems that negotiations with Hamas have stopped.
Trump said that the militant group of Hamas has become “more difficult to deal with” in recent days and accused her of hardening his attitude and prevented progress in hostage interviews.
Israel has to decide, says Trump
Trump, who spoke a day earlier, suggested that Israel would soon have to make a critical decision on how to proceed in Gaza in the middle of a growing frustration from stopped interviews.
“Israel must decide,” he said. “He’s trying, but Hamas still claims his position.”
“Hamas really didn’t want to agree,” Trump said. “I think they want to die. And it’s very bad.”
Family of hostage in anxiety
Trump acknowledged that while many hostages were liberated, several of them remain either missing or confirmed dead – the situation he said leaves the families in deep need.
Since Hamas captured 251 hostages during his attack on October 7, 2023 to Israel, 148 – 140 Alive and eight deceased have been released. It is assumed that about 50 remains in captivity, with about 20 still alive.
In recent weeks, negotiations have been negotiating both American and Israeli officials to consider “alternative possibilities” to bring the remaining hostages home.
The Israeli Prime Minister Netanyah has previously repeated Sentiment: “Hamas is an obstacle to the hostage agreement. Together with our American allies, we are now considering alternative opportunities to bring our hostages to Hamas’ terrorist rule and ensure permanent peace for Israel and our region.”
According to medical officials in the enclave, nearly 60,000 people in Gaza have been killed since October 7th. Israel has launched his military campaign in response to killing 1,200 Israelis and taking hostages.
No insight into “alternative options”
Despite growing international concerns, neither the US nor Israel gave details of what “alternative possibilities” could mean. The American special envoy Steve Witkoff confirmed that diplomacy is no longer the only way.
