
The United States President criticized the highest museums in the country for focusing on “how bad slavery” and not how the country has evolved over the years. Donald Trump spoke of the Smithsonian Institution, an independent organization that operates 17 museums, galleries and zoo based throughout the country that receives public financing. He previously accused the organization of claiming “corrosive ideology”.
“Smithsonian is out of control, where everything discussed how terrible our country was, how bad slavery was, and how incomplete they were physical – nothing about success, nothing about brightness, nothing about the future,” Trump said. The transatlantic slave trade from Africa to America has lasted more than three centuries and is often described as the “original sin” of the United States. The south fought to maintain slavery during the civil war in 1861–65, but was defeated. Since then, African Americans have continued their fight for civil rights, most recently emphasized the protests of Black Lives Matter from 2020, which ruled the national counting with the problem history of the country.

Last week, the White House published a letter on its website and said that the administration plans to target eight main museums for a “comprehensive internal review” in an effort to “celebrate American uniqueness” and “remove a dividing or guerrilla narrative”.
Targeted institutions include the National Museum of American History, the National Museum of African American History and Culture and the National Museum of the American Indian, said the letter.
