On Friday, the US Office for Staff Management ordered all federal agencies to erase any record of the employee’s vaccination state, previous non-compliance with vaccination mandates or request for exceptions from these mandates.
Rollback requirements to maintain the vaccine records were announced by the Personnel Management Office (OPM) in a note on all federal departments and agencies.
According to FOX News, agencies have 90 days to permanently eliminate vaccination status and liberation requests. Employees can unsubscribe during these 90 days if they wish to maintain their history against Covid in the file.
“If the employee is not confirmed within 90 days, all information related to the vaccine must be permanently removed from physical and electronic personnel files,” the report added.
In the latest note to the heads and the reigning department and agencies heads on Friday, the director of OPM announced Much that the agencies are immediately forbidden to use the history of vaccines or requests for exemption in any job related, including rent, promotion, discipline or termination.
But why did Trump’s administration issue such a directive?
The OPM Director explained that this step is to reverse the “harmful policy of the pandemic era” under the administration of Biden in response to the recent litigation and is part of the wider effort of Trump’s administration.
OPM Director Scott The Mournment said in his statement: “During the pandemic, things got out of hand and the federal workers were released, punished or pushed for a simply personal medical decision.”
“That should never happen,” he said.
Former President Joe Biden signed an executive order 14043 in September 2021, which directed federal agencies to require vaccination COVID-19 as a condition of federal employment.
This caused controversy because federal employees, trade unions and states were submitted by numerous litigation, claiming that the mandate had violated constitutional rights and federal working laws.
In 2022, the Federal Court of Appeal blocked the enforcement of the order. Biden canceled the mandate in May 2023, which forced OPM officials to issue a memorandum to human resources who stated that “agencies should review their employment contributions … To ensure that no one is stated now a canceled executive order 14043 as a qualification request.”
The memorandum also reminded agencies that the executive order could no longer be enforced.
