
The truck driver was arrested for the alleged transition via lioness in the Amreli district in Gujarat, a forest clerk said on Sunday.
The accident occurred on the highway of Amreli-Savaarkundla near the village of Devaliya in the district of April 24, said the clerk.
The defendant, Rajesh Padariya, crossed the lioness on early Tuesdays, said the forest conservator (ACF) assistant (ACF) Viralsinh Chavda.
He said that three teams were created to watch the accused, and was arrested on the basis of the CCTV and news inputs.
The clerk said the teams searched the surrounding areas and the vehicle was identified on the basis of shots from the CCTV cameras at the gasoline pumps and around the incident.
He said that the accused was booked on the basis of the provisions of the Act on the Protection of Wild Animals of 1972 and the Act on Amending Wild Animals (Protection) 2022 and was sent to prison after his deposit was rejected.
