The Tripura police have arrested an online activist following complaints of her “offensive” rhetoric against the state government and the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC).
Police produced her in court on Monday (October 27, 2025) and sought her remand for seven days.
Madhavi Biswas, a resident of Pratapgarh in Agartala, spoke about alleged corruption in the state government and lack of civic amenities.
During her live performances, she directly criticized the chief minister, ministers and top officials of the AMC, including the mayor and deputy mayor.
AMC Deputy Mayor Manika Das Datta was the first to lodge a police complaint against Ms Biswas almost a month ago.
This was followed by a series of complaints registered at various police stations.
In her latest appearance recently, she criticized the state government for not arresting the real culprits involved in a huge consignment of drugs seized from two coaches at the Jirania railway station here. However, the complainants alleged that she had a deliberate tendency to make false allegations against the leaders and abuse them in foul language.
They alleged that the accused was politically motivated to malign the BJP-led state government and institutions.
