
Alifa Ahmed, a Congress of Congress for the upcoming bypoll in the Kaliganj constituency in the Nadia district.
On Tuesday (May 27, 2025), the Trinamool Congress announced Alif Ahmed (38 years) as her candidate for the upcoming bypoll on the election district of Kaliganj in the district of Nadia. She is the daughter of the late former MLA from Kaliganj, Nasiruddin Ahmed.
Kaliganj is one of the five constituencies of gatherings across the country where the Bypolly are scheduled for 19 June. According to the Indian Election Commission), votes 23 June are calculated.
Bypoll in Kaliganji was Ahmed’s passage of 2 February this year.
Ahmed was known as Laal, was a lawyer and a double MLA from Kaliganj. In 2011 he secured the place in the elections to the Assembly and then again in 2021.
According to the leader of Congress Trinamool Jay Prakash Majumdar, who announced today, Ahmed won a range of 47,000 votes in 2021.
Majumdar said that the candidate for Bypoll, Mrs. Ahmed, is a former member of Zilla Parisad, and therefore “is not new” for politics.
“Alifa Ahmed is highly educated. Previously, it served as a member of Zilla Parisad from the headquarters in Kaliganji himself. He is not presented in politics through his father,” said Mr. Majumdar.
He added that Mrs. Ahmedová worked on local development and is known to the inhabitants of Kaliganj.
“I am very grateful to the parties and Mamata Banerjee for granting this opportunity. We do not have much time between this bypoll and the upcoming elections of the Assembly in 2026.
According to the revised list of election elections published on 5th May, Kaliganj has a total of 2,52,670 voters.
