
Copious tributes were paid to police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty at a memorial day held here on Tuesday. State Police Chief Ravada A. Chandrasekhar laid a wreath at the memorial site at the police headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram. Armed police officers paid tribute and honored the memory of police officers who died in the line of duty. Senior police officers attended the ceremony. One hundred and ninety-one police officers from the police paramilitary forces lost their lives in the line of duty over the past year. Police Remembrance Day is observed annually on 21 October to commemorate 10 policemen who were killed by Chinese troops in an ambush on a police team that went to find missing police personnel in Hot Springs, Ladakh in 1959.
