Tributes paid to Army officer killed during anti-terror operations in J&K Rajouri

The White Knight Corps has expressed grief over the death of Lieutenant Beereshwar Goswami, who lost his life in the line of duty during an anti-terrorist operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.
An officer died after slipping in a mountainous area and falling into a deep gorge during an anti-terror operation in Rajouri district on Saturday (June 6, 2026) evening.
General Officer Commanding (GOC) White Knight Corps, Lt Gen PK Mishra and all ranks paid tribute to the officer, describing his sacrifice as an enduring inspiration to the Army.
In a post on X, the White Knight Corps said: “GOC White Knight Corps and all ranks express their deep sorrow at the untimely death of Lt. Beereshwar Goswami, who made the supreme sacrifice while performing operational duties in an area marked by rugged terrain, steep cliffs and adverse weather conditions”.
The Army said his unwavering devotion to duty, indomitable spirit and selfless service to the nation will remain an enduring inspiration to all ranks.
The congregation said it expresses its solidarity with the bereaved family in this hour of grief and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
Officials said the officer was part of the security forces involved in “Operation Sheruwali”, which entered its 15th consecutive day in the Dorimaal-Gambhir Mughalan belt of Rajouri district.
The operation was launched to trace two to three Pakistani terrorists who are believed to be hiding in a forested area.
