A 42 -year -old tribal woman was killed in an attack by a wild elephant inside the reserve forest area here on Friday. The deceased was identified as a Seetha. According to Officer Kottayam Divisional Forest (DFO) N. Rajesh there was an incident in Meenmutty, near ThottAppura, under the section Forest Murinjapuzha in Idukki.
Mr. Rajesh said she went to the forest with her husband and children to collect forestry and be imprisoned in front of a wild elephant that attacked her.
Forest officials from the Murinjapuzha forest station plunged into the place and moved it to the Peermade Taluk Hospital, but her life could not be saved. Her husband was injured in the attack.
Mr. Rajesh said that the first installment of compensation will soon be handed over to the deceased family.
A property worker injured
In the next incident, a 63 -year -old plantation worker was injured in an attack by a wild elephant near Vandiperiyar under the Murinjapuzha forest station around 10.30 am on Friday. The injured was identified as Anthony Swami, Mount Estate Layams (Cluster Homes) resident. Mr. Swami was at a tea break together with his co -workers in the coffee plantation Bethel when they attacked three wild elephants. The elephant lifted the worker and threw him. The workers said there was a heavy fog in the area, and noticed the presence of wild elephants only when the animals were close.
According to Mr. Rajesh, the worker was initially admitted to the Health Center of the Vandiperiyar Family Health Center and later moved to the government hospital Medical College Hospital, Kottayam. He said that the construction of a suspended solar fence at the forest edges is taking place.
In protest against the attack on Friday evening on Friday evening on the National Highway Kottarakara-Dindigul on the National Highway Kottade on the National Highway Kottades on the National Motorway to Peerumade on the National Motorway Congress Youth. Police Peerumade arrested the protesters and removed them from the highway.
