Fifteen tribal students have qualified the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced and five have secured eligibility for admission to National Institutes of Technology (NITs) out of 28 MPC students trained for JEE examinations at ST Study Circle, Hanamkonda, thanks to the coaching offered under the newly launched STEM-60 (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) programme.
With a pass rate of 53.57% in JEE Main, the study center has surpassed all other JEE coaching institutes in the erstwhile Warangal district, ITDA, Eturnagaram and Tribal Welfare Department officials claimed.
Launched by the Telangana Social Welfare Department in August this academic year, the scheme aims to provide high-quality residential coaching to ST students preparing for national-level entrance exams like JEE and NEET. The students were admitted through a screening test and provided separate hostels, nutritious meals and subject support from senior and junior faculties, the officer said.
A rigorous selection process, including faculty demonstrations and classroom assessments, took place before the STEM-60 program began.
The students were selected from six districts in the erstwhile Warangal region. The program offers fully residential and free coaching aimed at helping tribal students secure admission to premier institutions like IITs, NITs, AIIMS and medical colleges offering MBBS courses. Officials noted that the Tribal Welfare Department and ITDA have a consistent record of supporting financially disadvantaged but deserving students by providing assistance with fees, laptops and academic resources.
