On Sunday, the Vithura police registered a case against 10 Congress staff for allegedly blocking an ambulance bearing a tribal man who needs emergency care, leading to his death. Congress workers previously reportedly blocked an ambulance carrying the bin, 44 years old, which attempted suicide, causing a delay in a vehicle that arrived in a government medical university hospital.
Close relatives of the deceased told the media persons that the bin was transported to Vithura Taluk hospital after consuming poison. Congress workers blocked an ambulance while trying to move the bin from the Taluk Hospital to the Faculty of Medicine.
Congress staff protested against the use of an ambulance, which allegedly did not have valid insurance documents. Relatives said the protest caused a delay of almost 30 minutes. The bin was declared dead shortly after being accepted at the victim of the Faculty of Medicine, they said.
Minister of Health Veen George and the Minister for the Welfare of the Planned Cast, Planned Tribes and Reverse Class or Keel said that measures would be taken against those who are responsible for the death of the tribe. Mrs. George also faced the claim that the ambulance had no valid insurance by sharing insurance documents on her Facebook page.
The Indian Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI (M)) and the Indian Democratic Youth Federation (Dyfi) condemned the incident and demanded negotiations against congress workers involved in the protest. Later on the day, CPI workers (m) took a protest march to the residence of the opposition leader VD Satheesan and held the congress responsible for Binu’s death.
Meanwhile, Congress staff claimed that the protest lasted only a few minutes and that they did not know that this was an emergency case.
