The Minister of Rural Development Tamil Nadu I. Periyasama said on Tuesday (April 8, 2025) that there are measures to ensure road connectivity to the Kadamban Kombai tribal village, located deep inside the forest, in Knikchayat in the Coimbatore district.
The Minister responded to AIADMK MLA AK Selvaraj, who moved connectivity to the road with callers to move to Hamlet, where 24 tribal families live in the forest area. Mr. Selvaraj said that the new road sanctioned by the state government was only two meters wide. He pointed out the difficulties of navigation in the field when trucks carrying heavy costs and ambulances must pass through the section. He also demanded that the state government to consider laying a road connecting Nevlitehurai with Mettupalayam in favor of villagers from 28 tribal hamlet.
In his response, Mr. Periyasamy said that in Mudalvarin Gram Salaigal Membatt Thittam (MGSMT) -2024-25 was sanctioned a total of 1.62 GBP for providing the road connection Kadamban Kombai. The district forest officer cleared the project and the offers hovered. He also said that the Rural Development Department is working with a forest department to lay new roads in the internal areas of Jawadhu and Kalvararayan Hills.
Separately, PMK MLA C. Sivakumar moved the call to speed up the construction of a bridge at a high level near Mundiyampakam on the National highway Chennai-Tiruchi.
The Minister of Public Work, Motorways and Smaller ports of EV Velu said in his response that the National Hennai-Tiruchi (NH 45) motorway (NH 45) is under the maintenance of the Indian National Motorway (NHAI). Two black spots were identified near Mundiyampakkam and Orathur Cut Road. NHAI carries out a project to create a underpass for the vehicle (VUP) and a light underpass (LVUP) at the price of 41.53 crore. The service road is currently being built. Nhai takes steps to speed up the project, he added.
