The former cricket India Ravichandran Ashwin believes that older players in the Indian team deserve to be treated with greater respect and sensitivity. His comments come to the Indian team announcement for the upcoming Australia tour on a white ball, where it turned out that SHUBMAN GILL would take over as a captain from Rohit Sharma, which has been preserved as a specialized dough.
Ashwin spoke on his YouTube channel, both said Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli got their place Over the years of service and success, and therefore more care should be treated.
“When it comes to Rohit and Virat, in our country they look in higher crickets in two ways – either aging and going, or young people are coming and it is time to go on. Both of these outlooks are bad,” Ashwin said. “Kohli and Rohit have gained the right to be in the team. They played almost two decades and deserve more respect.”
While Ashwin acknowledged that recent BCCi communication was better, he emphasized the need for greater clarity and openness in dealing with higher players.
“I feel that communication channels should be clearer and respect should be louder. I thought that Ajit Agarkar managed it well during a press conference. Horit and virat are working hard on their condition is Investment in the World Championship in 2027,“He noted.”
Ashwin also offered his view of justification for the removal of Rohit as the ODI captain, suggesting that this could be part of the long -term plan of the sequence.
“Rohit deserves to be a captain. But I understand that we understand. We are in 2025, two years after the World Championship, and there is only a handful of ODIS.
Off-Spinner further urged BCCI and team leadership to handle Rohit and Kohli with “sensitivity, respect and compassion”.
“They should not be placed in a sensitive place or take care of their place. If you give them respect, they will decide on their future,” Ashwin said. “You have to communicate clearly – tell them your plan. If they want to play, go purely with performance and thanks
Ashwin stressed that both older players continue to play a crucial role in the leadership of the next generation.
“Transfer of knowledge is very important. No one is better than Rohit Sharma to pass it on. Selectors and coach must give Rohit and Virat responsibility for leading young people. They are in a phase where motivation should come from responsibility.”
At the end of his thoughts Ashwin said that the current situation must be thoughtfully managed:
“I think this situation should be dealt with sensitively with respect. They earned that.”
