The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation unions has called for an indefinite nationwide strike from May 20. Among other things, the unions are demanding a 25% increase in salaries effective from January 2024.
At a press conference on Saturday, Jyothi Ananthasubba Rao, president of the KSRTC Staff and Workers’ Federation, announced the protest. She said the government had offered only a 7% increase to be implemented from April 1, 2025, as compared to their demand, based on negotiations. “This is unacceptable,” Ms Rao said.
