Munnar-Devicula of the National Motorway Section Kochi-Dhanushkodi in Munnar was reopened on Wednesday morning for operation.
The wing of the National Highway (NH) of public works on Tuesday completed on the spot in Munnar, where two main landslides have recently appeared. Officials said the traffic continued on the road around 11:30
Sources have stated that the district geologist will submit a report to the district administration and wing of the NH on the state of the soil in the area. The district geologist inspected the area on Monday. The sources said the soil absorbed water during the rain and fell on the road in the area.
“If there is severe precipitation in this area, there is a chance that there will be other landslides. The geologist’s report will include practical recommendations on how to solve the problem permanently,” the sources said.
The sources said earlier that the authorities were looking for the opinion of the former geologist of the IDUKKI district to set up the protection of children from the court of sexual offenses near the old government art university in Munnar, where the landslides in the floods in 2018 were canceled.
Officials said the NH wing was planning to impose a ban on traveling to Munnar-Devicula of stretching when the authorities issued a red and orange warning in the district. “There is a chance for other landslides in this area. The NH wing will take steps on the basis of a report by a district geologist,” the clerk said.
The two main landslides appeared near Old Government Arts College in Munnar 26 and 27 July. The first landslide around 22:00 on Saturday trapped the vehicle under the wreckage killing the driver. The second landslide on Sunday morning caused great damage in this area.
