On a scorching hot Saturday (April 11, 2026) noon, Ayanavaram district is awakened by the beating of drums as S. Roshini, the Villivakkam candidate of the Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) and the transgender face of the party in uproar, walks her campaign through the narrow lanes. He waves at residents, seeks their support, with a microphone in hand, reminds them of the party’s symbol and gives reasons why they should vote for it.
Although she is a fresh face in this Assembly election, Mrs. Roshini is not new to public life as she helps people from various sections of the society through her Roshini Charitable Trust. Addressing voters in residential centers off Konnur High Road, Ayanavaram, she urged them to seek free clean water, free education and health facilities from political parties rather than freebies.
