On Friday, copper coils from the 250 kV electricity transformer in the village of Alasandapuram near the town of Jolarpet in Tirupatura were stolen, leading to an outage of energy in this area.
The police said it was around 7 am when several farmers noticed that the transformer was dismantled from the concrete poles and held on a muddy section near the farm in the village. Copper coils and wires in the transformer were found missing.
Immediately the inhabitants pointed to Thimmammpet’s police, who plunged into the place. Meanwhile, Tangedco officials in Amballur Tangedco Sub-Station led by an engineer assistant (AE) K. Satyamurty also inspected the space and checked the transformer.
The police said that about 10-15 kg of copper coils and wires were stolen from the damaged transformer. Each kilogram of copper coil from the transformer was sold in an open market for approximately 50-60 GBP, the police said.
Supervision has been increased near Transformers in the Ambur region, which has approximately 175 transformers for domestic use. The case of Tangedco Ae Satyamurty was registered by the case of Thimmamplet Police.
Transformer was also installed for pumping water into villages that fall under Jolarpet Panchayat Union in the Tirupattur district. Every day, on average, 3-4 billion water was delivered to these villages using the supply and drainage of Tamil Nadu water (Twad). With the Dry River Palalar, the water supplied Twad remains key to home consumption in these villages.
