Ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, the first phase of a training program for Returning Officers (ROs) and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) from Villupuram, Tiruvannamalai, Cuddalore and Kallakurichi districts was held here on Tuesday under the auspices of the district administration.
District Electoral Officer and Collector Sheikh Abdul Rahman, who presided over the training program, oriented the AROs and ROs on the guidelines as outlined by the Election Commission of India.
The officials were informed about the rules to be followed while accepting the nomination papers from the candidates. They were also explained at length about the rules to be followed in checking, eligibility and disqualification of a contestant, election day preparations and security measures in vulnerable booths.
ROs and AROs from 28 representative districts in four districts participated in the educational program.
