A training program was organized on Friday to acquaint aspirants with the process of e-auction of liquor licences, including CL-2(A) and CL-9(A), which are lying vacant across the state.
Inaugurating the programme, Deputy Commissioner Fouzia Taranum said that for the first time, the Excise Department is allocating free liquor licenses through a transparent e-auction process as announced in the current year’s state budget. A total of 569 liquor licenses across Karnataka will be allotted through the online auction, she said, adding that interested parties from Kalaburagi district can participate in the process.
The training was held at the MRMC SAC (Student Activity Centre) located in the CPM Boys’ Hostel campus of the HKE educational institution in Kalaburagi town. The Deputy Commissioner said that the technical training was organized to give detailed information about the e-auction process as the licenses were awarded through online bidding for the first time by the Excise Department. She urged the candidates to take full advantage of the training and clarify any doubts with the technical experts present at the venue.
The e-auction will be conducted through the portal of MSTC Limited (www.mstccecommerce.com), a Government of India undertaking. The Kalaburagi district license auction will be held on January 13, while the Yadgir district license auction is scheduled for January 14. 15 licenses including 12 CL-2(A) and three CL-9(A) licenses will be allotted in Kalaburagi district while six CL-2(A) licenses will be allotted strictly in Yagg.
MSTC Ltd.’s technical staff, Satish Kumar and K. Ravi along with Excise Department officials provided detailed information about the e-auction process to bidders from Kalaburagi and Yadgir districts.
Deputy Excise Commissioners Sangangouda P. (Kalaburagi) and Sharada P. Kolakar (Yadgir), Senior Excise Inspectors Hanumantharaya Vajramatti, Ramanagouda Mudigouda and Indubai and other excise officials were present.
