At least 14 people died in five villages in Amritsar after allegedly consumed a disturbing liqueur, which led to the arrest of five accused, the press agency reported on Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner Amritsar Sakshi Sawhney confirmed the death of 14 people, said PTI.
According to the police report, six people were hospitalized with complications caused by Hooch. The death occurred in five villages – Bhangali, Patalpuri, Marari Kalan, there and Talwandi Ghuman.

– Six people were arrested in the incident. They were identified as Prabhjeet Singh, the main accused, Kulbir Singh, Sahib Singh, Gurjant Singh and Ninder Kaur, the report said.
– The main accused Prabhjeet informed the cops about Sahib Singh, the king, who supplies methanol, reports in the report.
– SSP Amritsar Rural Maninder Singh also said that Sahib Singh won 50 liters of methanol, which was diluted to make 120 liters. This was what was sold to local suppliers.
– The case was registered under the law of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Act on Exclusions.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amritsar (rural) Maninder Singh said, “We received information around 21:30 last night that people started to die after consuming a disturbing liqueur.”
“We immediately acted and rounded four people. We arrested the main supplier of Prabhjeet Singh. We listened to it and learned about Kingpin, Sahab Singh. We also rounded it.
“We have received strict instructions from the Punjab government that strict measures must be taken against false alcohol suppliers. Running is underway,” SSP said.
“The manufacturers will soon be rounded. Two firs have been registered under the strict sections. Our goal is to defeat the entire distribution network. Civic administration and we go from door to door to find out more people to avoid further victims and save people. 14 deaths were currently hospitalized.
