Trader Joe’s Limits Egg Purchases to 2 Dozen per Customer to Combat Shortages
In an effort to combat ongoing egg shortages and manage inventory, Trader Joe’s has implemented a new policy limiting the number of eggs that customers can purchase at a time.
Effective immediately, all Trader Joe’s locations will no longer allow customers to buy more than two dozen eggs at once. This new policy is designed to prevent hoarding and ensure that eggs are available to all customers who need them.
"We want to make sure that everyone has access to our high-quality, affordable eggs," said a Trader Joe’s spokesperson. "By limiting the number of eggs that each customer can buy, we can ensure that everyone gets a reasonable supply and we can restock our shelves more efficiently."
The new policy affects all types of eggs sold at Trader Joe’s, including their signature "Cage-Free Large Brown Eggs" and "Happy Eggs & Ko". The 2-dozen limit will be strictly enforced at checkout, and customers will not be allowed to combine purchases with other orders or friends to exceed the limit.
While some customers may initially be inconvenienced by the new policy, many others are welcoming the move to prevent stockpiling and ensure a consistent supply of eggs for all shoppers.
"I completely understand why Trader Joe’s is doing this," said longtime customer Sarah Johnson. "I’ve seen people buying up all the eggs and then reselling them online at exorbitant prices. This new policy will help prevent that and keep prices fair for everyone."
Trader Joe’s is not the only retailer to implement egg purchasing limits, as several other stores and grocery chains have also taken similar measures to address the ongoing egg shortage and supply chain issues.
At Trader Joe’s, the new egg policy is expected to be a permanent fixture, and customers are advised to plan their shopping trips accordingly. With this change, the beloved grocery store continues to demonstrate its commitment to fairness, sustainability, and customer satisfaction.
