The Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Police detained one person to enter the temple of Sree Padmanabhaswamy wearing smart goggles based on the camera.
The defendant, Surendra Shah, 66, from Gujarat, was in custody on Sunday evening. He visited the temple with his family earlier during the day. The temple, known for its strict security measures, does not allow any form of video or photography in its premises.
The intelligent glasses worn by Surendra are reportedly unnoticed during the safety checks at the temple input gates. Only later the security staff noticed that the glasses were flashing light as he approached Sanctum Sanctorum.
According to the police, the accused captured some visual elements inside the temple using intelligent glasses. Surendra, who claimed he did not know about the ban on using it in the temple space, said he often used them during travel and insisted that there was no intention behind the device.
Fort police, who registered the case, left the defendant on a bail at the station after interrogating him.
