The tourist tide Idukki was on the rise with a hill, which in the last three months witnessed the historical maximum of the arrival of tourists, said the Minister of Tourism on Saturday PA Mohamed Riyas.
Practically inaugurating the Kudiyetta Smarakam (Memorial Settlement Memorial) in the idukki park near the Idukki Dam and the District Promotion Council project for tourism (DTPC), Mr. Riyas said that the state tourist sector was on the way of growth.
“In the first three months of the year, Idukki visited 9,84,645 tourists, which was 25% more than in the previous year,” the minister said.
“There was also an increase in the number of foreign tourists visiting the district. Over the last three months, the district has visited 55,033 foreign tourists, an increase of 4%,” he said.
“The settlement monument depicts the history of the settlement of farmers in idukki through installations and sculptures. The project will be an eye opener for tourists and history enthusiasts,” said Mr. Riyas.
The museum was established by the Ministry of Tourism for the price of 3 crore in six acres. The statues cover the history of settlement under six topics. The museum was also portrayed by agitation of farmers, including protests led by the Communist leader AK Goopalan and Fr. Joseph Vadakkan.

The museum also showed a human conflict in the district. It is depicted by farmers chasing wild animals from agricultural land. There are also portraits of early agricultural practices.
The Photo Frames DTPC project is another innovative project that attracts tourists. DTPC set up photo frames in seven main tourist destinations in IDUKKI to give tourists a chance to click on photos and selfies. Photographic frames were set up in Wagamon Meadows, Wagamon Adventure Park, IDUKKI HILL VIEW PARK, PANCHALIMED, RAMAKKALMED, ARUVIZHI and SREENAYANAPURAM
The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Water Resources Rosha Augustine. Among other things, the District Collector VIGNESHWARI, District President Panchayat Rarichen Neeranakunnel and secretary DTPC Jithesh Jose were present.
