In an effort to support tourism in Hill, Chief Minister Himachal Pradesh Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday (June 10, 2025), he launched border tourist activities in Shipki-La, a motor mountain passage located at an altitude of 3,930 meters.
“We have made a restriction on tourists to enjoy the beauty of Shipki-La and tourist activities would strengthen the economy of local people along with strengthening tourism in the region. He said and addressed the public assembly.
The main minister said that the state government will take over the question of the opening of “Kailash Mansarovar Yatra” from Shipki-La with the central government. “I will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and present this matter in front of me. Shipki-L will be the easiest way for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra,” he said.
“We also urged the resort to establish the battalion Himacal Scout, which would have a special quota for the local residents of the border areas of the state. The matter of establishing an airport to support tourism in border areas would currently also be persecuted before the Union government.
“Increasing the connection”
The main minister said that border roads not only are of strategic importance, but their purpose was to give people advantage by increasing connectivity in distant border regions.
“I recently discussed the action plan to promote tourism in border areas with Indo-Tibetan border police (ITBP). There was also a discussion of the use of various ITBP helpeds to support tourism in distant areas.
