Andhra Pradesh is likely to get more tourism projects soon as the Center responded favorably to its request to develop Tirupati and Visakhapatnam as world-class tourist destinations, Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh said on Wednesday.
On the second day of a meeting with Tourism Ministers of all States and Union Territories in Udaipur, Mr. Durgesh presented Andhra Pradesh’s proposals to Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and sought approval for the Culinary Institute in Tirupati, the Tourism Bhavan in Amaravati and the National School of Drama in Rajamahendram.
Mr. Durgesh said that the Union Minister responded positively to his request and appreciated the tourism policy of Andhra Pradesh.
He expressed gratitude to the Union Government for supporting AP tourism development through various schemes and requested the Center for continued support.
Later, Mr. Durgesh along with Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) CEO Amrapali Kata met the Union Minister and reiterated their request for the Centre’s cooperation in developing the tourism industry in Andhra Pradesh.
