
The first half of Brennan Johnson proved to be decisive when Tottenham Hotspur defeated Manchester United 1-0 to win the European League on Wednesday 21st May. This first SPURS title since 2008 and their first European trophy in 41 years has secured a place in the UEFA League next season.
For United it was a frustrating day marked by a lack of tip. Although they have 16 shots – six of them on the goal – they could not find a breakthrough and Ruben Amorim’s men will miss the European competition next season.
The first half was a harsh affair, with both sides in possession and in the last third there is no accuracy. Amad was the brightest spark of United on the right side, often disturbing Udogies, and fired a dangerous shot just behind the face of the goals.
The defensive looked united incorrectly and their coordination with the goalkeeper Jenana appeared. Both attackers – Hjlund for United and Soland for Spurs – gained limited service, while Mason Mount, favored over Alejandro Garnacho on the left, tried to influence.
Maketock was finally broken in 42 minutes. Pope Matar Sarr was not solved from the left and Brennan Johnson did not happen in the box. Welsh was lucky to strike when Luke Shaw bounced the ball and kindly fell to him, allowing him to overthrow it over the line.
United tried a quick response, but Spurs held firmly and took the fundamental lead to the half -time.

Spurs almost created a chance for the counter, but Solandke’s heavy touch allowed Maguire to hit. In the 65th minute Son Heung-min came, but it was United who almost equalized.
Vicario missed the ball in the box and Hjlund’s header was dramatically cleaned from the line Micky van de out. This caused changes from United, with Hjlund and Mount to make a way for Garnach and returning Joshua Zirkzee.
Bruno Fernandes had a unique opportunity to balance the score in the 72 minute, but his headers went well. United began to build momentum, with Garnacho in the 75th minute forced to save from Vicario.
Spurs remained decisive at the back and brought Kevin Danso to strengthen his defense. Seven minutes were added for the stops and United has approached in the last moments. Shaw’s header was rescued by Vicario, and only the side network found out the Casemir acrobatic effort.
