On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi considered manipur as a country of “courage and determination” when he visited the state for the first time in two years of ethnic violence 2023.
PM Modi said that after meeting the victims of violence, he saw that the state was recovering from the dispute and that the door was knocking “a new dawn of hope and progress”.

For more than two years, manipur has been affected by sweeping ethnic violence, demanding at least 260 people and displaced another 50,000 people. The clashes, which first began between the Meitei and Kuki communities, have since expanded to almost every community in the state, led to the release of the state government in February this year and imposing a governor’s government.
“I met people affected by violence before today. After I talked to them, I can say that a new dawn of hope and progress is knocking on the door,” PM Narendra Modi said.

Churachandpur, Kuki Fortress, is one of the two worst areas during ethnic clashes in manipur. On Thursday, Churachandpur witnessed fresh clashes when unidentified Miscreants allegedly vandalized and removed decorations prepared for the PM Modi event.
