Too good, too much, too Mbappe: France advance to third consecutive World Cup semi-final

France booked their place in a third consecutive FIFA World Cup semi-final with a 2-0 victory over Morocco in Boston on Wednesday. After a goalless first half in which Yacine Bounou denied Kylian Mbappe from the penalty spot and produced a number of fine saves, the France captain broke the deadlock in the 60th minute with a superb curling effort from the outside. Ousmane Dembele doubled the advantage six minutes later when he finished off a move set up by Mbappe as Didier Deschamps’ side comfortably saw out the game.

The result keeps alive France’s bid to add to their World Cup triumph in 2018 after finishing as runners-up in 2022, while Morocco’s impressive campaign ended at the quarter-final stage.
