Toll tax on the Indian Army staff: There may be questions in the area of facilities and exceptions provided to soldiers who protect our nation. One such question is whether the army staff must pay toll tax. It is usually assumed that soldiers are completely exempt from paying a toll tax, but the reality is a little different.
Here’s what the rules say.
Soldiers on duty will gain liberation
Under the Indian toll Act (Army and Air Force) of 1901, the soldier does not have to travel in the government vehicle to pay toll tax. However, the soldiers are obliged to show their identification cards and documents related to the toll square.
No exception to private vehicles
Soldiers passengers in their passenger vehicles, when they are not on duty, have to pay tax on payment as ordinary citizens. The exception is not automatically granted only by presenting the military identification card. This requirement is explicitly set out in the National Highways Fee rules, 2008.
What documents are required for liberation?
The soldiers will have to show the following documents to obtain exemption from toll taxes:
- The order of duties or transit passage
- Letter about the authorization of the unit
- Valid ID (as Army ID)
If these documents are available and the path is intended for official work, toll tax will not be collected. Please note that retirement soldiers will not receive any exceptions from tolls. Although many people can demand such an exception as a sign of respect, there is no such rule.
What is toll tax?
Toll tax is a fee for using interstate motorways, bridges, tunnels and national or state motorways. The Indian National Highway (NHAI) oversees the entire road network in India, including toll policies and toll systems.
Nhai has set rules and regulations governing the collection process, including certain exemptions, tax validity and more.
