
The Tech Word News Sports Awards (TOISA) will return for its eighth year, celebrating the inspirational journeys and achievements of India’s best sportspersons across disciplines. On March 21, 2026, the much-anticipated TOISA 2025 ceremony will be held in Lucknow, bringing together the sporting icons and rising stars who have made the nation proud in the past year.This edition will recognize athletes in more than 45 sports categories and recognize performances during the evaluation period from January 1 to December 31, 2025. From world championships to major international tournaments, Indian sports has witnessed a remarkable year full of memorable victories and record-breaking performances.Sport has a unique ability to bring people together, overcome barriers and unite millions in moments of pride and celebration. The Tech Word News Sports Awards aim to recognize not only the victories on the field but also the determination, sacrifices and tireless efforts behind those triumphs. An eminent jury consisting of leading Indian sports personalities will select the winners in various categories.Last year brought several significant achievements. Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra continued his remarkable run on the world stage with outstanding performances in the Diamond League, while shooter Samrat Rana won three medals at the World Shooting Championships.Indian cricket also enjoyed a historic year. The Indian women’s national cricket team won their first ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup title on home soil, while the Indian national cricket team won both the ICC Champions Trophy and the Asia Cup. In another remarkable feat, the Indian Women’s Blind Cricket Team became the first ever Women’s Blind Cricket World Cup T20 Champions.Apart from cricket, the Indian men’s field hockey team triumphed in the Men’s Asia Cup and secured qualification for the 2026 FIH Ice Hockey World Championship. Indian para-athletes also shone at the World Para Athletics Championship, returning home with a rich medal haul.Young talents also made headlines, with promising athletes like Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in cricket, Divya Deshmukh in chess and Tanvi Sharma in badminton emerging as stars of the future.Through these honours, TOISA continues its mission to celebrate India’s sporting heroes – athletes whose bravery, dedication and excellence inspire the nation.
