An earthquake today: a slight earthquake measuring 3.2 in the Richter scale hit Faridabad in Haryana at 6:00 am today, said the National Center for Seismology (NCS). Tuesday morning were felt via Delhi-NCR. There were no reports of loss of life or damage to property.
The earthquake depth was 5 km below the surface in latitude, 28.29 degrees north and a length of 72.21 degrees to the east.
On July 21, the earthquake of Jamm and Kashmir’s Kishtwar District hit in the early hours, the officials said. There were no reports of loss of life or damage to property, they said.
The earthquake with its epicenter near Kishtware and 3.1 size appeared on Monday at 1.36 in the morning, said the National Center for Seismology.
In the last few weeks, the Dilli region has experienced a number of earthquakes, which causes growing concerns among the inhabitants. In particular, 10 and 11 July, significant tremors were recorded near Jhajar in Haryana, just before Delhi.
On the morning of July 10th, an earthquake of 4.4, followed by another evening of 3.7, followed by another evening, as they felt strongly across Delhi-NCR and neighboring districts such as Grrabogram, Rohtak and Noida. Although no major damage or injuries have been reported, these seismic events disrupted the population and emphasized the vulnerability of the region against the earthquake.
Delhi and its surrounding areas lie above the comprehensive network of active geological disorders, including Mahendragarh-Ded Fault, Delhi-Haridwar Ridge, Delhi-Sargodha Ridge and others. The tectonic activity in this area is influenced by both local disorders and wider collisions of Indian and Eurasian plates that create tension along these errors.
Seismologists note that the recent slight shocks that usually move between 2.0 and 4.5 sizes reflect on the ongoing tectonic stress release and indicate that Mahendragarh-Dehradun’s error probably played a role in July tremors.
Due to the classification of Delhi as a zone with a high seismic risk (seismic zone IV), such an activity serves as a sharp reminder that a stronger earthquake remains. The authorities advised the residents to remain vigilant and prepared, and note that the shocks often follow the main tremor, but tend to decrease in intensity with time.
