According to the German Research Center for GEOVERS (GFZ) on Thursday (September 4), Southeast Afghanistan intervened on Thursday (September 4) a strong earthquake of 6.2. Tremic, at a shallow depth of 10 km (6.2 miles), was recorded at 34.57 ° N width and 70.75 ° E length.
The last earthquake comes only a few days after many of the devastating earthquakes killed more than 2,200 people, and over 3,600 in East Afghanistan remained.
Vibration in India
Strong tremors and Jammu and Kashmir were felt in the NCR parts. The inhabitants reported trembling buildings and rushed as a preventive measure outside. No immediate reports of damage or victims have been received from India.
The survivors are fighting in the middle of a lack of help
The number of victims out of the devastating earthquakes hit by Afghanistan at the beginning of this week increased to more than 2,200, the Taliban administration confirmed on Thursday because the rescuers continued to campaign from the debris of flattened villages in the East of the country.
The first earthquake, shallow shaking 6.0 Magnitude, hit the late Sunday in the provinces of Kunar and Nangarhar and equalized the whole villages built by mud brick and wood. The Taliban reported at least 2 205 dead and 3,640 injured, making it one of the deadliest earthquakes in Afghanistan in recent years. The second earthquake by 5.5 Magnitude on Tuesday further disrupted rescue efforts, triggered landslides and block access to distant areas.
According to the assessment of Islamic relief, 98% of buildings in Kunar province were either destroyed or damaged, so tens of thousands of homeless people remained tens of thousands. The authorities estimate that more than 6,700 houses were flattened.
The humanitarian crisis deepens
The United Nations Groups warn that the humanitarian situation deteriorates rapidly. The International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) said that up to 84,000 people were directly or indirectly affected, with urgent food needs, shelter and medical needs.
The survivors, many displaced and living outside in the middle of the shocks, continue to look for missing family members. The villagers were seen bearing bodies on woven stretchers, digging graves with Pickaxes, and waiting for convoys to get into mountain communities.
Rescue and auxiliary operations
Video shots showed trucks charged with flour and reserves of treacherous mountain roads, while the Afghan authorities have deployed the forces of the commando through airdrops in inaccessible areas. Despite this effort, the Agency Assistance emphasizes that personnel cast and stock remain insufficient to meet the extent of destruction.
Afghanistan seismic vulnerability
Afghanistan, especially the Hindu Kush, lies on a seismically active zone where Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates collide. Poorly built houses made of stone, wood and dry masonry increase the vulnerability of rural populations, while the shocks continued to rattle already destroyed provinces.
