The collector Idukki Dineshan Cherutta submitted a report to the government of the death of three people after entering Tuesday evening into the landfill of the hotel in Kattappana to clean it.
In the report, the collector is understood that he recommended to provide financial assistance to the families of the dead.
The police identified the dead as the inhabitants of Tamil Cumbum Michael, aka Selvan, 23 years, Sundar Pandiyan (36 years) and Jayaraman. Michel initially entered the tank and was imprisoned inside. Sundara Pandiyan entered the tank to save Michael while Jayaraman, who was infected for cleaning work, threw himself to help them.
Police and firefighting and rescue staff pulled out the staff from the tank after an hour’s effort. Although they were hurried to the hospital, their life could not be saved.
The collector also managed the Council for Control of Pollution, the Minister of the Municipality of Kattappana and the joint director of the local government to conduct an incident investigation.
The collector also recommended the investigation of the outages, if they exist, in the construction of a waste tank. Awaiting report from the police and other measures on it will be established.
After a post-Mortal examination, the bodies were handed over to relatives on Monday. According to a preliminary report on the autopsy, deaths occurred as a result of inhalation of toxic gas from the waste tank.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Water Resources Rosha Augustine, who is also in charge of the district, was looking for a message from the collector about the incident.
