TN Minister launches ‘Thaimaman Gold Ring’ scheme for newborns in Cuddalore

Housing and Urban Development Minister B. Rajkumar on Monday started the distribution of one-gram gold rings to children born at the Government Hospital in Cuddalore after the inauguration of the Thailandaman Thanga Modhiram program at Rajaji Government Hospital in Madurai by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Rajkumar said the initiative aims to increase institutional supplies in government hospitals and strengthen public confidence in government health facilities.

In Cuddalore district, 3,120 children born between June 22 and September 25 will receive gold rings successively in four hospitals. Children born after September 26 will receive rings at the respective hospitals.

As many as 1,327 babies from Cuddalore, Annagramam, Kurinjipadi and Panruti blocks will be given rings at the Cuddalore Government Hospital. Another 543 newborns from Bhuvanagiri, Keerapalayam and Parangipettai blocks will receive them at Government Cuddalore Medical College Hospital.

493 infants from Kattumannarkoil and Kumaratchi blocks will be covered at Chidambaram Government Hospital, while 757 beneficiaries from Vriddhachalam, Kammapuram, Mangalur and Nallur blocks will receive rings at Vriddhachalam Government Hospital.

Distribution will take place in blocks between September 28 and October 14. To avoid overcrowding and to maintain orderly operations, distribution will take place daily in two fixed sessions – 10:00 am and 1:00 pm – with a maximum of 25 recipients per session (50 per center per day).

To be eligible for the benefit, mothers must submit one of the six prescribed proofs of residence in Tamil Nadu and proof of identity: e-KYC verified Aadhaar card, proof of residence, voter card, family card (ration card), Social Security Administration ID or proof of address issued by the postal department.
