Tamil Nadu Government Formation LIVE: As uncertainty looms over who will form the next Tamil Nadu government, smaller parties are holding meetings to decide their support for Vijay’s TVK. The VCK, CPI and CPI(M) — all allies of the DMK — are yet to announce their decision even as the “political crisis” continues.
Meanwhile, a DMK spokesperson ruled out an alliance with its rival AIADMK, hinting at a wait-and-watch strategy for the party.
Asked if the DMK will try to form the government, DMK spokesperson TKS Elangovan said, “The governor has given time till 10.. We will have to wait and see. If he (Vijay) is unable to form the government, we will reconsider, talk to our allies and take a decision.”
The governor is said to have given the parties until May 10 to prove a majority and form the government.
With 108 seats but 10 short of a majority, the Vijay-led Tamilga Vettri Kazhagam approached the CPI, CPI(M) and VCK – all allies of the DMK – to win two seats each after winning their first Tamil Nadu Assembly elections on April 23.
