TN CM Vijay returns from UK with investment commitments of ₹15,300 crore

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, who visited the United Kingdom to meet industrialists and attract investment, returned to Chennai on Thursday (September 17, 2026). It has secured investment commitments worth ₹15,300 crore, which is expected to create 10,000 direct and indirect jobs, according to a state government office statement.
Mr. Vijay met Indian High Commissioner Kumaran Periyasamy and discussed India-UK joint ventures under the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).
As Mr Vijay announced his government’s intention to create a world-class sports city at the rally, he visited the Silverstone race track to hold discussions on modern motor racing technology and safety measures.
On his instructions, the government has dispensed with the protocol of ministers receiving him at the airport, it said in a statement.
