In view of the weather advisory predicting heavy rains, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin presided over a meeting of the Tamil Nadu State Disaster Management Authority at the Secretariat in Chennai on Thursday (November 27, 2025) and reviewed the steps being taken by the government machinery in various districts.
The meeting was attended by KKSSR Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Ramachandran, Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam and senior officials of Revenue and Disaster Management, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Home, School Education, Municipal Administration and Water Supply departments and senior police officers.
The water resources department has appointed eight engineers as monitoring officers to monitor water bodies in eight districts – Chengalpattu, Cuddalore, Kancheepuram, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Villupuram, Thanjavur and Tiruvarur.
The meeting also approved the Tamil Nadu State Disaster Management Plan 2025.
New projects revealed
In another event, Mr. Stalin virtually unveiled the foundations for various projects to be implemented by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department at a total cost of ₹79.94 crore. He also virtually started new projects which were completed at a total cost of ₹6.77 crore. Minister PK Sekarbabu was present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister also virtually inaugurated the new buildings constructed by the Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Department at various locations across Tamil Nadu at a total cost of ₹10.79 crore. He also unveiled the foundation for the construction of new buildings to be constructed at a total cost of ₹38.85 crore to accommodate student hostels at various locations.
Mr. Stalin handed over the first installment of aid for the renovation of nine old mosques and dargahs. Ministers SM Nasar, Siva V. Meyyanathan; Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam and senior officials were also present. He also presented awards to various institutions under the Social Welfare Department in the presence of Minister P. Geetha Jeevan.
