Addressing the Assembly on Thursday (June 18, 2026), Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar said a resolution would be passed in the House demanding Tamil Nadu’s due share of financial devolution from the taxes it contributes to the Union government.
In addition, a special legal committee will be set up to take the matter up to the Supreme Court to ensure fair financial devolution. Every rupee due to Tamil Nadu will be properly documented and a report will be published detailing the Union government’s “discriminatory approach” to financial devolution for Tamil Nadu, he said.

The Government will ensure that Tamil Nadu receives its rightful share of financial devolution from the Union Government. “This government will work diligently to put constant pressure on the Union government to protect the welfare of Tamil Nadu, fight for the state’s rights, implement the required schemes for the state and create new infrastructure,” he added.
UNESCO World Heritage Site
The Governor said the government would facilitate the ongoing archaeological research at Keeladi, Adichanallur, Kodumanal, Mayiladumparai, Sivagalai, Azhagankulam, Arikkamedu, Saluvankuppam and Poompuhar.
The government will work to get Keeladi and Adichanallur archaeological sites recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites and ensure that school children are taken on educational trips. Further, the cultural sites of Adichanallur, Kodumanal and Gangaikonda Cholapuram will recreate the experience of Tamil civilization for tourists through Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality (AR/VR) technologies.
Sustainable tourism policy
A comprehensive “Sustainable Tourism Policy” will be designed to preserve the natural resources and ecological balance of the state. By developing environmentally sustainable infrastructure, the government will transform Tamil Nadu into a global destination for heritage and eco-tourism, he added.
