BJP leader and Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Monday asked Chief Minister MK Stalin to answer questions on alleged corruption in sand mining, Tasmac and drug proliferation in Tamil Nadu and asked why he is not implementing the central government’s schemes in Tamil Nadu. He claimed that more than 70% of the promises made in the DMK manifesto remained unfulfilled. Speaking in Chennai, Mr. Goyal said that only the National Democratic Alliance can ensure “good governance” in Tamil Nadu. “Under your leadership, Tamil Nadu is ready for development. More than nine million houses have been sanctioned for poor families in Tamil Nadu. Mr. Stalin’s government has still not named the three million beneficiaries who could benefit from proper houses. They could have electricity, toilets, gas connection for cooking, digital services and good quality of life. What has it got? doubling decentralization during PM Modi’s government?” he asked. Mr. Goyal added that the grants that Tamil Nadu received from the Center have increased 4.5 times since the United Progressive Alliance government. “Where did the money go? Instead of always fighting the central government, why can’t you work together to benefit the people of Tamil Nadu. If people elect DMK again, they would have to see Udhayanidhi Stalin as the next chief minister,” he argued, adding, “Don’t fall for the false narrative that MK Stalin peddles every day.”
