The Election Commission of India (EC) has directed the Tamil Nadu government to post new Superintendents of Police (SP) for Kancheepuram, Perambalur, Tenkasi and Thanjavur districts.
In a communication, the ECI ordered the posting of G. Jawahara, IPS, as Kancheepuram SP, K. Prabakara, IPS, as Perambalur SP, GSA Myilvaganan, IPS, as Tenkasi SP, and E. Sundaravathanama, IPS, as Thanjavur SP. “The directions of the Commission are to be implemented with immediate effect and the compliance report with respect to the attachment of the above officers is to be sent by 11:00 AM on March 28, 2026,” the release said.
The EC added that the transferred officers should not be posted to any poll-related posts till the end of the elections. General elections for all 234 council constituencies are due to be held on April 23.
