A total of 13,155 senior citizens above the age of 85 and 20,379 persons with disabilities (PwD) in nine assembly constituencies in Cuddalore district have been identified as eligible to cast their vote through postal ballot in the upcoming assembly elections.
They have the option to cast their vote through a postal ballot and can apply through Form 12D, which officials will send directly to their homes from March 20. The form should be filled and submitted to the booth level officer concerned by March 24, said district election officer and collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar.
For PWD candidates, the reference disability should not be less than 40% of the specified disability determined by the relevant certification body.
Election officials will visit voters’ homes and get them to vote by mail. Voters will be informed in advance about the date and approximate time of the election commissioners’ visit via SMS.
If the voter is not present at the given address for the first visit, the team will leave a notice of the date and time of their second visit. If the voter is not present even on the second visit, no further visit or event will be held, the DEO said.
