Students of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, created several control panels specific to the city of Kochi, which will facilitate spatial analysis in the formulation of administration and policy based on values gathered from 21 departments in corporation.
Dashboards integrated data collected in five topics – migration, kudumbashree, Harith karma hay, health and education and integrated traffic systems. This meant the culmination of an almost 14 -day field study conducted by students of the second year of the Analytics and Sustainability Studies program as part of the Academic Project of the Labor Market and Research Facilities within the School of Management and Labor Studies.
The field study, which was closed on Wednesday, was facilitated by the center for inheritance, the environment and the development of Kochi Corporation.
“Our students have created 10 control panels, two for each of the five topics. Of the four – focused on education, transport, health and migration – they were an example in terms of data structure and analytical production, and was handed over by Kochi Corporation. State missions Kudumbashree and Harith Karma Sena expressed interest in the development of similar dashboards
The main objective was to establish data architecture at the department level for the creation of the city observatory system for Kochi as a knowledge center that systematically document, analyzes and spreads data about urban dynamics. This initiative is expected to strengthen evidence -based policy, support sustainable urban practices, and support community -based interventions throughout the city.
The final meeting of the field study is expected to take place on the tissue campus in Mumbai by December. Tissues may sign a memorandum of understanding with Kochi Corporation for a three -year non -financial cooperation focused on sharing expertise in the field of research and analysis of urban policy. Cooperation of the formalizing memorandum can be signed on events in Mumbai.
In the study, students also compiled case studies on sustainable urban practices and emphasized both challenges and successful interventions that could serve as models for other cities. These findings will be shared with Kochi Corporation, participating parties and academic audiences and contribute to a wider vision of building durable, inclusive and sustainable city centers.
