Several major Shiva temples in Tirupati witnessed a steady influx of devotees on the occasion of Mahasivaratri on Sunday.
The Swarnamukhi river flowing south of Tirupati is dotted with many temples along its banks. While Srikalahastheeswara Temple in Srikalahasti is the main temple on the banks of Swarnamukhi, others include Parsareshwara Swamy Temple in Yogimallavaram, Parasurameswara Temple in Gudimallam, Agastheswara Temple in Mukkoti (Thondavada), Valmikeswara Temple in Durgasamudram and others.
M Sri Kapileswara Temple at Kapila Theertham and Jeevalingeswara Temple at Jeevakona also witnessed heavy crowds. Similarly, the Siddheswara temple, located deep in the Talakona forest, was also thronged with devotees from the western mandals of the area.
Meanwhile, Srikalahasti was thronged by devotees from neighboring Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. MLA Bojjala Venkata Sudheer Reddy, Chairman Kotte Sai Prasad and Managing Director T. Bapi Reddy attended the event.
