Tirupati police recovered 500 stolen phones worth ₹1 trillion

Tirupati Police recovered 500 stolen mobile phones worth ₹1 crore through CEIR portal and handed them over to the owners as part of the 14th phase of ‘Mobile Recovery Mela’.
A total of 4,785 mobile phones worth ₹10.52 crore have been recovered and handed over to the victims in the last 13 phases, Superintendent of Police L. Subbarayudu said during a press conference held at the Tirupati District Police Office on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
He said, “Nowadays, mobile phones have become an essential part of everyone’s life. Keeping in mind the difficulties people face in losing their phones, CEIR services have been introduced to enable them to register an online complaint from home and get their phones back.”
The district police is tracking and recovering mobile phones not only from Andhra Pradesh but also from Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Maharashtra and handing them over to the victims,” the SP said.
He said those who have lost their mobile phones can easily get a link to CEIR by sending a message “Hello” to WhatsApp number 9490617873 to avail CEIR services.
